Biography
Laurie grew up just outside Chicago, IL where she started riding lessons in the
hunter/jumper world at age 13. During her teens she even showed some western pleasure and played some Polo for a summer. Laurie recieved her BFA at Iowa State University and did some Masters work at the University of Kansas. Throughout the years she continued her passion and love for the sport of Dressage.
For the past 17yrs, she has studied under the tutelage of Alf Athenstaedt ” Dressage Master” former Head Trainer and Director of Preformances at Tempel Farms. Laurie has helped organize clinics and has ridden with Olympic Medalists, Micheal Page, Michelle Gibson,with Betsey Steiner, Kathy Connelly,John Winnett,Lars Holmberg, Charles DeKnuffy and Catherine Hadded to name a few. Tempel Farms also gave her the opportunity to prepare and work with the mares and foals and to be a guest rider in the young stallion segments during their summer preformances.
Laurie’s travels across Europe landed her as a guest student at
Gestut Ammerland in Germany. Laurie who is now a FEI trainer and
competitor has obtained her USDF Bronze and Silver Medal and is a
USDF “L” Judge graduate with “distinction”. Laurie and her students
have placed in the Reg.2 Championships, IDCTA Championships,
USDF Jr. Young Rider Championships, and have won awards
through USDF, IDCTA and the All breeds Awards.
Laurie is calm, quiet and focused both as a human and rider,
And inspires the same in her students and through her clinics.
Students under her tutelage have gone on to working positions in
California, Sweden and Germany.
Laurie has currently relocated to NE Oklahoma where she teaches,
